Connected Motion @ Embedded World

👋
Hello to Connected Motion’s Embedded World landing page. It was a pleasure to meet with you at the show and hope to connect further beyond that. This page includes a brief of our activities and items that we probably already had a conversation about.
Please take a look and feel free to reach out to for any inquires.

About Us

Who We Are

Connected Motion is a Jordan-based company dedicated to building innovative mobility solutions. As the innovation arm of Markazia, the country’s leading automotive group and distributor of Toyoya, Lexus, and Yamaha, among others, we aim to leverage our industry expertise to shape the future of mobility.
In late 2024, we launched our research department with a bold vision—to become a regional hub for cutting-edge mobility research. Backed by Markazia’s extensive fleet, we have the unique capability to conduct large-scale experiments and real-world data collection, enabling impactful research collaborations.
🧪

Our Interest Areas

We explore technologies that push the boundaries of mobility, with a strong emphasis on:
WiFi & mmWave Channel Sensing – Advancing wireless sensing inside and outside of the vehicle.
Indoor & Outdoor Localization – Developing resilient positioning solutions for smart mobility.
Vehicle Diagnostics & Inspection – Enhancing maintenance and automated damage assessment.
Vehicle Telematics – Creating intelligent fleet management solutions with private network capabilities.
Check the interest details section below for more.
🏡

We Believe in Community-Driven Innovation

We believe that the best ideas emerge through collaboration. Rather than working in isolation, we are looking toward fostering open innovation through community and open-source contributions.
To support this vision, we’ve established a collaboration framework that offers financial incentives for impactful contributions. Whether through scientific publications, intellectual property development, or open-source contributions, we reward those who help drive our research forward.
🔑

Key Technologies We Are Adopting

To realize our vision, we are interested in focusing on two particular key enabling technologies that we believe will define the future of mobility; Edge AI & Embedded Rust. Our goal is not only to build solutions but to help grow thriving communities around these technologies.
To that effect, as part of the research activities, we are looking to open-source tooling and libraries that emerge along the way to accelerate development in these domains.

Interest Areas Details

Rust 🦀
We really believe that Rust is positioned to become a dominant language in the embedded space. We further believe in the power of open source. Other than open sourcing tools that emerge from development efforts, we are interested in growing Rust in two main areas:
  • Growing Rust in the Edge AI 🧠 space.
  • Developing Embedded Rust educational & testing tools (visualized simulation environments).
Telematics 📡
We currently run a fleet of vehicles that rely on existing cellular technologies. However, we are interested in looking at alternative ways for fleet management that offer more control and efficiency. As such, we are interested in the following:
  • Investigating the ability of employing long range wireless solutions (Ex. WiFi Halow, LoRa…etc.) to form private networks among vehicle fleets. Also how these networks can be leveraged to infer information about the fleet and the surrounding environment.
Channel Sensing 🛜
The prevalence of WiFi enables the leveraging channel state information (CSI) to infer useful data from the environment. The advancements in CSI are inching us closer to developing deployable commercial solutions. Though we have noticed that not much of the research has been done in a vehicle cabin context. At Connected Motion we have already invested in creating CSI extraction frameworks utilizing the ESP32. As such, we have interest in the following:
  • In cabin channel sensing to investigate areas like scene recovery, 3D reconstruction, and environment visualization. This is in addition to other areas like authenticating and/or making inferences about the occupants from the environment.
Localization 🧭
Our current fleet management solutions rely heavily on GPS. However, we have realized that GPS on its own is not always reliable. Additionally, fleets can also benefit from solutions that have ability to localize both indoor and outdoor. Existing activities entailed using Bluetooth based technologies for indoor localization of people and assets. Beyond that we are interested in the following:
  • Investigate GPS free localization leveraging technologies like long range WiFi channel sensing in between vehicles. Additionally, technologies that can operate in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Diagnostics & Inspection 🔎
We have recently successfully created a proof of concept that performs vehicle damage inspection on mobile. We are also close to prototyping a proof of concept that has the ability of diagnosing wheel anomalies using vibration. Further to those efforts we are interested in the following:
  • Investigating ability to diagnosing specific type of wheel issues on the edge.
  • Investigate ability of mobile inspection of vehicle undercarriage and interior.
